Having lived in the Middle East for over 35 years, I have witnessed the region’s incredible transformation from a modest tourism destination into a global hub of luxury, culture, and innovation. The evolution of tourism and hospitality here mirrors the region’s broader journey rooted in vision, ambition, and education.

Decades ago, the Middle East was known primarily for its heritage, religious sites, and cultural richness. Iconic developments such as the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah changed global perceptions, placing the UAE at the forefront of world tourism. I remember visiting the old Dubai Creek as a child, simple wooden abras gliding across calm waters, narrow lanes filled with spice and textile souks, and the scent of the sea in the air. Today, that same area thrives as Al Seef, a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern elegance. The transformation symbolizes how the UAE preserves tradition while embracing innovation, an approach that defines its hospitality industry.
Embracing Technology and Sustainability
The next chapter in Middle Eastern hospitality will be defined by technology and sustainability. Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and data-driven systems will reshape customer service and operational training.
